Ingredients of Chinese Lemon Chicken

  1. You need 500 g of Diced Chicken.
  2. It’s 6 of Large Spring Onions.
  3. You need 30 ml of Sunflower Oil.
  4. It’s 1/2 of Bulb Garlic.
  5. You need 1 Cup of Chicken Stock.
  6. Prepare of Zest 2 Lemons.
  7. Prepare of Juice of 4 Lemons.
  8. You need 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce.
  9. Prepare 1 tsp of Cider Vinegar (or any white vinegar).
  10. Prepare 75 ml of Pure Natural Maple Syrup (or 16tbs Sugar/Alternative).
  11. You need 300 ml of Water.
  12. You need 4 tbsp of Cornflour.
  13. It’s to taste of Pepper.
  14. You need Knob of Butter.

Chinese Lemon Chicken step by step

  1. Gently fry Chicken and Spring Onions in Oil.
  2. Add Garlic, Stock, Lemon Zest, Lemon Juice, Soy Sauce, Vinegar & Maple Syrup (or sweetener of choice).
  3. Simmer on low heat for 5-10 mins..
  4. Mix together Cold Water and Cornflour, then add to simmering pan. Stir and remove from heat when thickened..
  5. Add Pepper to taste..
  6. Stir in a knob of butter to add shine..
  7. Serve with Rice or Noodles of choice (I always opt for Brown Rice varieties).
  8. For future recipes,you can adjust lemon, soy, syrup, pepper etc. according to your own taste!.
  9. I don't eat sugar if I can help it but if eating sugar doesn't bother you, you can replace the Maple Syrup with around 200g sugar.
