  1. Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and tomato and sauté it until the tomatoes get mashed. Add paprika, chilli powder and a little salt. Sauté it for a minute or two. Remove from the pan. Allow it to cool. Now put it in a blender along with the tomato paste/ soup. Blend it well..
  2. In the same pan add a little more oil and sauté onions till golden brown. Now add the washed rice and roast it until the rice is golden brown..
  3. In a pot add the roasted rice and tomato mixture. Mix it well. Now add the vegetable/chicken broth. Adjust salt and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a low simmer and cover the pot.
